Mark scheme

Marking points from the official mark scheme (Oct/Nov 2024). The mark or mark type is shown in brackets.

  1. [B1] 15 or (6C2) x^4 (3/x^2)^2 or (6C4) x^2 (3/x^2)^4 OE May be in a list. Allow (6C4)
  2. [B1] 135 Correct term must be identified if in a list. Allow 135x^0.
  3. [B1] 20 or (6C3) x^3 (3/x^2)^3 OE May be in a list. Identifying 1/x term.
  4. [B1] 540/x^3 This can be implied by sight of 2160 as part of the constant term.
  5. [M1] 4×their 540 – 5×their 135
  6. [A1] 1485 Allow 1485x^0.
