The parametric equations of a curve are x = 1/cos t, y = ln tan t, where 0 < t < ½π.

  1. (a)Show that dy/dx = cos t / sin² t.[5]
  2. (b)Find the equation of the tangent to the curve at the point where y = 0.[3]

Mark scheme

Marking points from the official mark scheme (May/June 2022). The mark or mark type is shown in brackets.
