- [Explanation L3] The Nazis made changes because they wanted German children to believe in the Nazi ideas about race. - [Explanation L3 (Racial theories)] Minorities were punished because of Nazi ideas about race. They believed that Germans were the master race and had to be kept separate from other inferior races. These races had to be destroyed or kept under control. This is the reason Jews were persecuted. They were at first driven out of German society and then the Nazis tried to destroy all Jews in the Final Solution. This was to stop them contaminating the German race.
- [Explanation L3 (Other reasons)] Minorities like the mentally handicapped, drunks and beggars were persecuted by the Nazis because they believed they were undesirables who were not contributing to society and were a drain on German resources. In other words, they were weakening the Nazi state. This led to them being sent to camps or sterilised. There was even an attempt to start a campaign of euthanasia.
