Mark scheme

Marking points from the official mark scheme (May/June 2020). The mark or mark type is shown in brackets.

  1. [B1] joule per coulomb
  2. [A1] R = 75 Ω
  3. [A1] R = 130 Ω
  4. [C1] P = I²R or P = VI and V = IR
  5. [A1] I = (0.20/55)⁰.⁵ = 0.060 A
  6. [A1] I = 0.060/4 = 0.015 A
  7. [A1] potential difference = 130 × 0.060 = 7.8 V
  8. [(A1)] or potential difference = (300 × 0.015) + (55 × 0.060) = 7.8 V (other valid methods are also possible)
