Your school has been given a sum of money in order to improve the school library. Your Principal has asked you, as a member of the Student Council, to write a report on the best way to spend this money. Write your report. You must include the following: • why the library needs improving • what you think should be done first and why • how students and the school would benefit. Cover all three points above in detail. 2. [0] Specific Assessment Objectives for Section 1: Directed Writing: 1 write a report which communicates information and persuades clearly, accurately and economically; 2 carry out the instructions as detailed on the question paper regarding the particular information required.
3. [15] Task Fulfilment (Band 1): Good understanding of purpose. Clear awareness of situation and audience. Format entirely appropriate. All required points developed in detail, fully amplified and well organised. Given information well used to justify personal opinion and interpretation. Tone and register entirely appropriate.
4. [15] Language (Band 1): Highly accurate, apart from very occasional slips. Sentence structures varied for particular effects. Verb forms largely correct and appropriate tenses consistently used. Vocabulary wide and precise. Punctuation accurate and helpful. Spelling accurate, apart from very occasional slips. Paragraphs have unity, are linked, and show evidence of planning.
