Mark scheme

Marking points from the official mark scheme (May/June 2018). The mark or mark type is shown in brackets.

  1. B1 eʸ = ax² + b may be implied, b≠ 0
  2. M1 correct attempt to find a or b by use of simultaneous equations or finding the gradient and equating it to a either 3=5a+b 1=3a+b or Gradient = 1, so a = 1
  3. A1 Coefficient of x² is 1
  4. A1 Intercept is -2
  5. A1 For correct form y = ln(x² - 2)
