Mark scheme

Marking points from the official mark scheme. The mark or mark type is shown in brackets.

  1. (a) M1 for correct expression for perimeter or sum of 4 sides (e.g., 2(3x+1) + 2(x+2) or 3x+1+x+2+3x+1+x+2)
  2. (a) A1 for 8x+6=46 shown
  3. (b) M1 for a correct operation to isolate x terms or number terms (e.g., subtracting 6 from both sides on 8x+6=46 leading to 8x=40)
  4. (b) A1 for 5
  5. (c) M1 for substituting x=5 into expressions for length and width (e.g., Length = $3(5)+1 = 16$, Width = $5+2 = 7$)
  6. (c) M1 for multiplying length and width (e.g., 16 × 7)
  7. (c) A1 for 112
