Mark scheme
Marking points from the official mark scheme. The mark or mark type is shown in brackets.
- M1 for squaring the numerator, e.g. 25x^4y^−6
- M1 for dealing with the division of at least one power, e.g. x^(4 – (–3)) = x^7 or y^(–6 – 2) = y^–8 or 25/10 = 2.5
- A1 for 2.5x^7y^−8 or 5/2 x^7 y^−8 or (5x^7)/(2y^8) or 2.5(x^7)/(y^8)
