Mark scheme

Marking points from the official mark scheme. The mark or mark type is shown in brackets.

  1. (a) M1 for correct frequency densities for at least 2 bars, e.g. 1.2, 2.8, 1.4, 0.4
  2. (a) M1 for correct products of FD × width for at least 2 bars, e.g. 10 × 1.2 = 12, 10 × 2.8 = 28, 20 × 1.4 = 28, 25 × 0.4 = 10
  3. (a) A1 for 10 (plants)
  4. (b) M1 for identifying the correct position for median, e.g. 70/2 = 35 or 35th value
  5. (b) M1 for a correct method to find median, e.g. 20 + ((35 – 12)/28) × 10 or 20 + 23/28 × 10
