- **(a)** Knowledge 2
- 1 mark for each correct type of poverty (max 2), e.g. absolute poverty / relative poverty (2)
- **(b)** Knowledge 2, Application 2, Analysis 2
- 1 mark for identification of each policy (max 2)
- 1 mark for application, e.g. increase minimum wage / provide social safety nets / invest in education and training / progressive tax system (1)
- 1 mark for analysis (explaining how the policy reduces poverty) for each policy (max 2), e.g. increases income for low-wage earners / provides financial assistance to those unable to work / improves skills and employment opportunities / redistributes wealth from rich to poor (1)
