Mark scheme

Marking points from the official mark scheme. The mark or mark type is shown in brackets.

  1. M1 for Compiler translates the whole program at once / before execution.
  2. A1 for resulting in an executable file / faster execution once compiled.
  3. M1 for Interpreter translates and executes code line by line.
  4. A1 for allowing for immediate error detection / easier debugging.
  5. C1 for advantage of compiler (e.g., faster execution, no need for source code, platform specific optimisation).
  6. C1 for advantage of interpreter (e.g., easier debugging, platform independence if interpreter available, good for scripting/prototyping).
